Caravaggio art book includes 80+ reproductions of his greatest masterpieces.
Caravaggio has been called the second Michelangelo. Caravaggio was an Italian painter whose revolutionary technique of tenebrism, or dramatic, selective illumination of form out of deep shadow, became a hallmark of Baroque painting. He took his models from the streets and painted them realistically. His three paintings of St. Matthew (c.1597-1602) caused a sensation and were followed by such masterpieces as The Supper of Emmaus and Death of the Virgin. The decoration of the Contarelli Chapel was completed by 1602. Caravaggio, not yet 30, overshadowed all his contemporaries.

La Tour art book includes 40+ reproductions of his greatest masterpieces.
Georges de La Tour was a painter from Duchy of Lorraine, which would later become part of France. He mainly painted religious scenes lit by candlelight and died in obscurity. After many centuries his work became highly regarded. Although his background remains unclear, his work refects a Baroque influence, similar to Caravaggio. He achieved a certain influence during his time and was given the title "Painter to the King." He also worked for the Dukes of Lorraine, but the local market of Luneville provided his income. La Tour is best known for his nocturnal light effects , which succeeded his predecessors. Georges de La Tour and his family died in 1652 in an epidemic.
